  • What can I expect at my first visit?
  • Why do I need dental x-rays?
  • Why should I visit the dentist every six months?
  • Why would I be referred to a specialist?

Q:  What can I expect at my first visit?

A:  Think of this as a getting-to-know-you session for both the doctor and yourself.  A thorough dental and medical history will be taken, followed by a comprehensive oral evaluation including x-rays.  The doctor will then sit down with you one-on-one to discuss your personalized plan of care.  This is also a great time to ask any questions you may have about necessary procedures or techniques that you are not familiar with.

Q:  Why do I need dental x-rays?

A:  Dental x-rays are a valuable screening tool which allows dentists to diagnose cavities between teeth that may be invisible in a typical oral exam.  Also, they provide additional information about the structures that surround and support the teeth, which may themselves become problematic.

Q:  Why should I visit the dentist every six months?

A:  An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  A solid preventive schedule allows for early diagnosis and treatment of cavities and gum disease before they can affect appearance, speech, eating, and your overall level of health.

Q:  Why would I be referred to a specialist?

A:  Dental education provides comprehensive training in all fields of dentistry, but at times, patients require additional or more specialized care.  This may include complex root canals, extraction of impacted teeth, certain gum surgeries, or orthodontic bracing.  Dr. Croley works closely within his referral network to ensure that your best interest is always the top priority.
